AGM 2006
A summary of the AGM held at the Goi facility on February 12th, 2006.
The Sharks Annual General Meeting for season 2006 was held at the net at Goi after a solid training session on Sunday February 12th, 2006. A fair crowd of about ten turned out to have their say and put their hands up for the various positions in the club for the upcoming season, and about the same number sent apologies.
Present on the day were Chris Thurgate, Ian Astley, Markus Adams, Joff Bradley, Nick Creece, Shehan Goonewardene, Charles Jensen, Kazuhiro Shibuta, David Pennycook and Cam Mulla.
Apologies were received from Hasib Rehman, Dhugal Bedingfield, Paul Dingwell,
Lee Pettifer, Fayez Ahmed, Iain Lambert, Keith Smalley, Ankur Desai and Levi Thurlow.
Fees:
It was discussed and decided that an increase of the club’s membership and playing fee was necessary for this year; therefore, a basic club fee of ¥10,000 was set per person for the year. This fee will cover all basic kit including pads, bats, balls and sunscreen. The fee does not cover travel expenses (to and from games) or umpiring expenses which will be resolved on the days in question; as a guide, you could be charged up to approximately ¥4,000 to cover these expenses for each game you play.
Ian explained that the new Kanto Cricket League has a new structure. There is now a requirement for each player to become a member of the Japan Cricket Association as well as have ‘sports insurance’ before they can be eligible to play in the K.C.L.
Finally, a part time player’s fee will also be introduced for those members wanting to only play a few games this year; however, those players will be limited to Japan Gold Cup (Twenty/20- Koiwa) games and friendly matches.
| Fee Structure: | |
| N.B: All fees are due before April 30th 2006. | |
| Ichihara Sharks membership 2006: | ¥10,000 |
| J.C.A fee: | ¥2,000 |
| Sports Insurance: | ¥1,500 |
| TOTAL (excluding travel and umpires): | ¥13,500 |
Equipment:
With the alarming amount of bats that have been split, chipped or broken in the off season Goi hit-outs, it was decided that we needed to purchase at least three new bats for the coming season. It was resolved to buy the bats from our current supplier in Australia. The bats to be purchased (make and price) will be decided by the majority of members through a discussion in the forums on this site.
The club will also be purchasing some new 'spring' stumps for the nets and a newly designed cap and broad-brim hat. All Sharks are encouraged to purchase either a cap or broad-brim at a price yet to be confirmed but in the vicinity of ¥2,000 for either.
The AGM decided that all playing members should provide the following items for themselves; whites, thigh pad, groin protection, and shoes which can be purchased through the club’s supplier. Check the forums for links to our supplier and place your order as soon as possible. If you order your personal items with the club's annual order the club will absorb the postage expenses, if you do not order immediately you will incur your own postage expenses. Orders for personal items can be placed in the forums under the appropriate thread. PLEASE DO THIS NOW!
Transport
The proposal by Paddy Foley's and the Dragons to share a bus for games at Fuji when two teams are playing at the same time was also discussed. No firm decision was made as it was realized that more information is required. Chris will continue to liaise with Paddy Foleys and Dragons. Arrangements for transport will be dealt with as need be.
Club Positions:
Finally, it was decided that the various club positions would be held by;
| Club Captain: | Hasib Rehman |
| Playing Captain: | Chris Thurgate |
| Vice Captain: | Dhugal Bedingfield |
| Manager: | Ian Astley |

| Coach: | Ian Astley |
| Club Liaison: | Iain Lambert |
| Social Coordinator: | Nick Creece |
| Statistician: | Iain Lambert |

The meeting closed at approximately 5:30pm when everyone froze to death due to the severe cold. Item one on the next meeting’s agenda will be the purchase of heaters for the executive committee!
